Signing in with an access code
On the sign-in page, students choose student and enter their code in the access code field. There are two ways to sign in:
Student access code
Enter the individual code provided by the teacher. No student name is needed.
Example:0019 2746 3812Class access code + student name
Enter the class code, which starts with C. The student name field appears; enter the name saved by the teacher. This works only when class-code sign-in is enabled and the student already belongs to the class.
Example:C1234567890+Kate Libby
The letter's capitalization does not matter in the class code. In student names, capitalization, extra spaces, and word order do not matter.
Example: c1234567890 + kate libby; C1234567890 + Libby Kate
Every student in a class must have a distinct name under these rules. Creating or renaming a student with a matching name is rejected.
When creating or editing a class, choose whether students may use only their own access code or either sign-in method. Both settings allow direct student-code sign-in. A class code alone cannot sign anyone in or create an account.
Create a class, then add each student yourself. Open a student to view or print their individual access code, or print codes for the whole class. Generating a new code makes the old one stop working and signs the student out.
Find the class access code at the bottom of the class view or in the class edit form. Select and copy the visible code to share it with your students. If the class has no code yet, open the class edit form and generate it there.
Use your personal AgileFingers account to sign in as a teacher, or create a personal account. Student accounts cannot sign in as teachers.
Assigning tasks
The teacher can monitor only the work done inside tasks created in the teacher area. Other student activity in AgileFingers is not visible here.
Tasks are assigned to the whole class, not to selected students inside that class.
To assign a task, open a class view and click + Task. You can choose lessons and texts that students should complete inside that task. You can also create custom texts for that task. These custom texts are visible only within the teacher area.
There are two task types:
- In-class assignment - a task with a time limit of up to 90 minutes. It is suitable for short tasks, especially tasks done in a classroom. If you edit an existing in-class assignment and save it again, the in-class assignment duration is reset.
- Homework - a task with an expiry date. It is suitable for tasks that do not require quick finishing.
If a student completes only part of an assignment, that progress can still be seen in the assignment view in the teacher area. In the case of an in-class assignment, there is a special button that refreshes students' scores after it is clicked.
Accuracy calculation
Choose the method when creating or editing a class. Your own practice setting is unchanged. The accuracy calculation method applies to students' typing exercises throughout AgileFingers, including practice outside assignments.
First-try accuracy: Typing errors count even after correction. Repeated errors at the same position count once. Correcting a typo reduces its penalty, but it still counts as an error.
Final-text accuracy: Only errors left when the typing exercise ends count. Corrected typos do not lower final accuracy.
Student choice: Students choose how accuracy is calculated. Results may use different calculation methods.
Minimum accuracy: Sets the minimum for independent practice and the initial value for new assignments. Existing assignments keep their own requirements.
Without a class minimum, new assignments start at 95% with Final-text accuracy or 90% with First-try accuracy or Student choice. You can change the minimum for each assignment.
Changing the class method applies to new attempts. Existing assignment thresholds and past results stay unchanged.
Deleting data
Removing a student blocks access and keeps the account and related data for administrator recovery or permanent removal, even without saved scores. Removing a class blocks it and its students; the class, assignments, and results remain available for administrator recovery or permanent removal. Deleting your own account also blocks your managed students. Restoring your account does not restore them automatically. Administrators can permanently remove retained students and classes at any time, including through a manual bulk control after 30 days.
Typing club and homeschooling
The teacher area can also be used outside school, for example in homeschooling, tutoring, family practice, or a typing club.
The interface still uses school-style terms such as class, student, and task, but the system works the same way for any small group.
People Also Ask (FAQ)
Who creates student accounts?
Create a class, then add each student yourself.
Can I assign a task to only one student?
Not inside a class with multiple students. A task is assigned to the whole class. If a class has only one student, then that task effectively applies only to that one person.
Can I see students' other activity on AgileFingers?
No. The teacher area shows the results of tasks created in the teacher area. Other student activity outside those assignments is not visible here.
What is the difference between in-class assignment and homework?
In-class assignment has a time limit of up to 90 minutes and is meant for short supervised work. Homework has an expiry date and is better for work completed later.
What happens if I delete a class?
The class and its students lose access. The class, assignments, and results remain until an administrator restores or permanently removes them.
What happens if I delete my user account?
Deleting your own account also blocks your managed students and marks your classes for removal. Their accounts and learning data remain until an administrator permanently removes them. Restoring your account does not restore the whole class automatically.
