Help

To improve your typing speed, follow these steps:

  1. Start with the basics
    2. Use the course to learn correct finger movement and build accuracy before increasing speed.
  2. Practice
    3. Practice as much as you need. You can view your progress on charts. You can save up to 15 custom texts. Once this number is exceeded, the oldest text gets erased.
  3. Do a test
    4. Once you are ready, you can take a test. The test has two tasks. Complete both at the required accuracy to receive your typing level. If a task fails, restart the test to try again. To complete the test, meet the accuracy requirement in both tasks. Your average typing speed determines your level.

...but before you start, remember:

  • Press each key with the same finger as the virtual hands do
  • Use your own keyboard, not the one you see on the screen
  • To start, just start typing
  • When learning, accuracy is more important than speed
  • Sign in to track your progress
  • It will take some time to master fast typing

Buttons for the typing screen

Pause typing

You can pause typing practice whenever you want. The timer stops counting down. Typing test tasks are the only exception. You cannot pause such a task.

Reload text

This option reloads the entire practice text. It removes everything that has been typed. This control is unavailable during typing test tasks.

Keyboard sound

The sound button turns the sounds of the keyboard keys and the typing error sound on and off.

Correction icons

This button shows or hides the typo-correction icons above the text: a warning triangle before correction and a check mark after correction. A crossed-out button means both icons are hidden.

Allowing typos

If the padlock is locked, you cannot continue typing until you correct a typo. Repeated typing errors at the same position count only once. If the padlock is unlocked, you can continue typing after making a typo.

Cursor behaviour

The cursor can be locked so that it is always in the center. If you unlock the cursor, it moves from left to right with the text.

Keyboard visibility

You can hide the virtual keyboard so that it is invisible while typing. When you are starting to learn touch typing, it is recommended to keep the keyboard visible.

Accuracy calculation

You can choose the method in Settings. For students in a class, the teacher's choice also applies to independent practice.

First-try accuracy

Typing errors count even after correction. Repeated errors at the same position count once. Correcting a typo reduces its penalty, but it still counts as an error.

Final-text accuracy

Only errors left when the typing exercise ends count. Corrected typos do not lower final accuracy.

Example: You type "x" instead of "b" in "abc", then correct it. First-try still counts the typo; Final-text sees no remaining error.
