Article "how to type faster"
We have published an article on how to type faster.
It explains why accuracy matters when learning touch typing. You will also find advice on regular practice and getting used to your keyboard layout.
A new typing game in beta
Touch typing test summary
You can take a touch typing test. It consists of four tasks: two texts and two tasks with the most common words, one of which also contains random numbers.
The touch typing test has now a summary. You can immediately see how well you did the test. The summary is visible immediately after you finish one of the tasks. If you passed a task, it cannot be done again. If you failed, you can retry the task only once. Once you fail the same task two times, you need to take the test again in order to get a trophy for a given typing speed.
AgileFingers is changing
AgileFingers has recently undergone a major change and it is a totally new touch typing tutor. Instead of having a generic layout which you can find on many other online typing courses, the AgileFingers page layout resembles a desk. The desk-like layout is intended to feel familiar while you learn to type quickly. We hope you like the change.
We will keep informing you about the new features that will come to our program.
Native texts support
AgileFingers currently supports the following language versions: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Polish, Portuguese and Romanian.
Not all languages have their own text fragments to practice. You can already practice on literary excerpts for English and Polish. The support for other languages will be gradually extended.
We have recently added support for Romanian. We have also recently included a couple of fragments from great classic books written by Feodor M. Dostoievski, Arthur C. Doyle, Bogdan P. Hasdeu, Alexandre Dumas, Eugen Lovinescu, and Gheorghe Asachi.
Social media share buttons
We have added share buttons. You can now let everybody know about AgileFingers on your favorite social media.
It is important to share the good news with others. It is important to let your friends know about useful things like an interesting article, YouTube video, or a valuable website, especially if it is an effective typing course.
Typing speed measured in characters per minute
So far, the only measuring method of typing speed in AgileFingers was words per minute. For this measurement, a "word" is a fixed unit of five characters, not an actual word in the text. This lets us use the same calculation regardless of language. This measurement method includes spaces and punctuation. AgileFingers uses this five-character unit to calculate words per minute.
You have a choice now. You can measure how fast you type using characters per minute. This shows smaller changes in speed, since one word per minute corresponds to five characters per minute. If you switch to measuring the speed using characters per minute, it will affect the entire application.
